A conflict of self: one woman’s journey at the next Parlay House NYC
October 25 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Our next event in NYC will feature Tova Mirvis, whose novel The Book of Separation chronicles her story of severance from Orthodox belief, community, husband and family to claim a new life of freedom and change. She will talk about what it meant to her to heed an inner compass at long last — to free the part of herself that had been suppressed, even if it meant walking away from the only life she had ever known. Honest and courageous, Tova will share her journey and the wisdom that helped her to silence her fears, seek adventure, and discover her own path to happiness.
Delicious bites and bubbly will be served, and authentic conversations are inevitable. We are so much stronger when we are connected, so we hope you and your friends will join us.
About our Speaker:
Born and raised in a tight-knit Orthodox Jewish family, author Tova Mirvis committed herself to observing the rules and rituals prescribed by this way of life. But over the years, her doubts became noisier than her faith, and at age forty she could no longer breathe in what had become a suffocating existence. Even though it would mean the loss of her friends, her community, and possibly even her family, Tova decided to leave her husband and her faith.
