Wisdom from the Last Event:
It was an electric evening at our last Parlay House, with a panel of 3 courageous and passionate women sharing their stories and why it’s incredibly important to them to empower women everyday.
Cindy Gallop, Founder & CEO of MakeLoveNotPorn (MLNP), Beth Ferreira, MD of FirstMark Capital (FIRSTMARK) and Anne Devereux-Mills, founder of Parlay House joined forces as Feminism 3.0 to speak about societal barriers and how to knock them down.
Some of the most poignant takeaways from the night:
-Ask for that raise. “You should ask for the highest number you can utter out loud without actually bursting out laughing. Make an absolute goddam f*cking shit-ton of money so that you can invest in other women.”- Cindy Gallop
-Model the behavior you want to see. If you’re a senior person in your company, take your maternity leave. Demand a room to pump in. By doing so, gives other women the precedent and courage to do the same.-Beth Ferreira
-Sexual harassment is the single biggest business issue facing every industry. Call out predators. Call out creeps. The time is always now. – Cindy Gallop
-Empowerment comes in many shapes and sizes. Some women may want to shout from the rooftops and some women may need a more intimate approach. Both are equally important and powerful. Affecting even a single person can make a huge difference. Bottom line- care for other women everyday. We are all in this together.- Anne Devereux-Mills
-Figure out what you love to do, and then the conditions under which you most love doing it. Look at what you do everyday and adjust accordingly- Cindy Gallop
-Be a mentor to another woman or find a female mentor for yourself. Do it today.– Beth Ferreira
-Pull other women forward, bring them to Parlay House and create a cascade effect of support and action. It’s that simple.- Anne Devereux-Mills
When you have a truly world-changing venture or cause, you have to change the world to fit it, not the other way round. –Cindy Gallop

Focus of the Month:
Tell a woman in your life (friend, co-worker, family member) a way in which they led by example and how it inspired you. Knowing they made a difference will give them the confidence to do it again… the Parlay effect.
A quote to leave you with:
“It follows that there are two ways for the nature and use of human power to change. One is that an order might issue from the palace, a command unto the people saying “It is thus.” But the other, the more certain, the more inevitable, is that those thousand thousand points of light should each send a new message. When the people change, the palace cannot hold.
As it is written. “She cuppeth the lightening in her hand. She commandeth it to strike.”
– The Power by Naomi Alderman
...Till next time- be powerful. Be you.
