Luckily, our speaker, Celine Tien, is working on a solution. Growing up with a doctor dad and parents in biotech, Celine had an early introduction to the wide world of health, but most importantly, her upbringing taught her to think creatively and to take on problems from a number of angles.

She’s the Founder and CEO of Flowly, an app that combines Virtual Reality and biofeedback to address pain and anxiety. Celine understands that bridging the gap between the mind and the body can lead to meaningful relief on a whole lot of levels.

Her personal story isn’t just about technology – it’s a deeply personal one. She has battled racist and sexist assumptions to break into the healthcare tech industry as an Asian American

Celine Tien is the founder and CEO of Flowly, a mobile app that combines Virtual Reality and biofeedback for pain and anxiety management. Celine is also Principal Investigator on NIH-backed clinical trials investigating opioid-sparing devices for pain management.

Celine got her start in VR as the director and writer of Pippa’s Pan 盼, one of the world’s first immersive Virtual Reality hybrid live-action films. Pippa’s Pan 盼 was selected for the 2017 Festival de Cannes VR Library Showcase, making Celine the youngest director at Cannes with the youngest team. The VR film experience also won 3rd place at the 2017 AT&T VR/AR Challenge at the AT&T Developer’s Summit.

Previously, Celine worked in feature development at Oriental DreamWorks in Shanghai and DreamWorks Animation in Los Angeles. She also founded a non-profit education-based organization: Zoom for Kids! Celine graduated with distinction from Yale University and is an alum of Y Combinator, Stanford StartX, and AARP Innovation Labs. Celine is a former film and television actor and model
