How Do You Move and How Do You Meditate?

We’re back out into the world and moving again! Yet this moment feels more stressful than ever.

We want to be by your side to make the transition a bit easier for you, so we’re bringing Tai Chi Master Nelson to help.

Tai Chi is an essential concept in Chinese culture. It’s an internal martial art that combines the principles of Positive and Negative energy and the theories in traditional Chinese medicine to help us get into a state of relaxation and flow. Through the slow and soft movement, practitioners of Tai Chi can relax their minds and bodies to cultivate internal energy “Qi”(氣) for health. There’s an added benefit too: Tai Chi is an effective form of self defense because it trains us in steady and precise movement, controlled breathing, and a heightened state of awareness.

No experience is required for our gathering! In just an hour, Master Nelson will demonstrate the 24 forms of Hunyuan Taijiquan and teach us some simple practices we can use to find balance in times of chaos – aka, now!

ABOUT OUR SPEAKER

Nelson started learning Chen’s Taijiquan (陳式太極拳) in 1989 from Master Gene Chen, an early disciple of Grandmaster of Feng ZhiQiang(Creator of Hunyuan Taijiquan (混元太極拳). Nelson became Master Gene Chen’s disciple in 1998. Through his practice of Chen’s and Hunyuan Taijiquan, he combines the essence of Chen’s Taijiquan Reeling Silk and Hunyuan internal energy to express the principle of Taijiquan. Nelson enjoys teaching Taijiquan and sharing his knowledge with other Taijiquan enthusiasts.
