More than a decade ago, award-winning sports journalist and author Joan Ryan set out to understand the phenomenon of team chemistry. She interviewed more than 150 athletes and coaches, and also neuroscientists, sociologists and psychologists. What started as a narrow focus on sports became a deep exploration into the essence of what makes us human.

Ultimately, Joan found that team chemistry – whether in a sport, a business or a family — is about relationships, and that relationships are the most powerful change agents on earth. In her talk, Joan will share her research and also a personal story, about how her son’s tragic accident profoundly changed their relationship and transformed her as a mother.
